Ex-Bush White House spokesperson tells Fox News: Trump punched Stormy so hard that he 'hit himself'

Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer on Tuesday criticized President Donald Trump after he tweeted an insult at a woman who sued him for defamation.

Fleischer, a veteran of the George W. Bush White House, reacted on Fox News following Trump's tweet, saying that adult film star Stormy Daniels was a "horseface." The tweet came after Trump learned from Fox News that one of her lawsuits against him had been dismissed.

"This is where the president is his own worst enemy," Fleischer explained to Fox News host Sandra Smith. "He's in the middle of a victory and he takes it down a few notches just by engaging in that unnecessary rhetoric."

"He doesn't need to call anybody horseface!" he continued. "You just don't do that when you're the president."

Fleischer recalled that Trump had also used Twitter to insult the appearance of MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski.

"The president can counterpunch so hard, he often hits himself," Fleischer added. "And here he is again returning to that type of mistaken over-tweet. I wish he wouldn't engage like that."
