Man in Florida arrested in connection with explosives sent to top Democrats: report

Law enforcement officials have told CNN’s Shimon Prokupecz that they have arrested a man in Florida in connection with the explosive devices that have been sent to top Democrats and critics of President Donald Trump this week.

No further details on the suspect are being released at this time, although a CNN panel on Friday speculated that police might be investigating whether the suspect had any co-conspirators involved in the plot.

Sarah Isgur Flores, director of public affairs at the United States Department of Justice, confirmed that “one person is in custody” in relation to the attempted bombings, and she said the DOJ would be holding a press conference on its findings at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani lashed out at Republican impeachment counsel Steve Castor over his questions to European Union Ambassador Gordon Sondland as Republican lawmakers signaled that they may point the finger at the former New York City mayor to help President Donald Trump.

Sondland testified Wednesday that he and other administration officials were unhappy that Trump directed them to work with Giuliani to pressure Ukraine into investigating former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter, and said Giuliani pushed for what Sondland described as a “quid pro quo.”
