Trump supporters fall for hoax about the Mayo Clinic intentionally aborting their babies

Published

on

A new internet hoax claims that the Mayo Clinic is intentionally misdiagnosing pregnant Trump supporters so it can force them to get abortions — and some of the president’s fans are actually falling for it.

WUSA 9 reports that the hoax began with a tweet from a woman claiming to be a Mayo Clinic doctor who thrilled in forcing Trump supporters to abort their children by “misdiagnosing their healthy pregnancies as ectopic.”

Although the anonymous Twitter account in question is not an actual doctor at the Mayo Clinic, high-profile Trump supporters such as Laura Loomer and Milo Yiannopoulos have spread it around on their social media pages as though it’s legitimate.

“This is the most evil thing I have ever seen on Twitter,” Loomer wrote earlier this year. “Don’t let ANYONE tell you that we aren’t at WAR with the Democrats. They are absolutely evil.”

The rumors about Mayo Clinic doctors nefariously aborting Trump supporter babies have spread so far that the clinic this week was forced to issue a public statement correcting the record.

“In June, a troll w/no relationship to Mayo Clinic tweeted a false, inflammatory message that led Twitter to suspend his account until he deleted the tweet,” the Mayo Clinic wrote on its Twitter account. “Images of that tweet are again circulating on various social networks. It’s a hoax. Please help us correct it.”

Trump asked Ukraine to look into scandals about former Vice President Joe Biden's son Hunter. For nearly a year, Trump's former attorney Rudy Giuliani was admittedly working to persuade officials in Ukraine to find "dirt" on the Bidens that they could use in the election. While the accusations against the younger Biden have been disproven, it's suspected, but not confirmed, that this was the incident detailed in the complaint.

In an examination of the record-breaking number of Republican lawmakers who have decided to quit or retire despite holding a seat in solidly conservative congressional districts, one lawmaker admitted that he grew weary of having to deal with Donald Trump's daily Twitter habit and other shenanigans -- so he is calling it quits.

As the Washington Post reports, "Since Trump’s inauguration, a Washington Post analysis shows that nearly 40 percent of the 241 Republicans who were in office in January 2017 are gone or leaving because of election losses, retirements including former House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (Wis)."
