CNN legal analyst reveals the most ridiculous thing about Papadopoulos’s challenge to Mueller’s authority

CNN legal analyst Shan Wu ridiculed prison-bound Trump advisor George Papadopoulos's legal attempts to delay his sentence for lying to the FBI, saying the defendant didn't "have a leg to stand on' and that the court would not allow itself to be a proxy for Papadopoulos's larger challenge to special counsel Robert Mueller's authority.

"From a strict, legal standpoint, Papadopoulos did not have a leg to stand on," Wu said, grinning. "His attorney's statement is just silly."

Wu added that Papadopoulos had waived his right to appeal when he pled guilty, and that no judge would uphold his challenge.

"If the judge saw a serious challenge or serious issue with Mueller's jurisdiction it might have given him some pause on that," Wu said, adding that a similar attempt by imprisoned former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort had been recently rejected.

"I don't think there going to be any successful criticism of Mueller's jurisdiction," he continued, saying that Papadopoulos's complaint was "the kind of argument you need to make early, before you plead guilty."
