President Donald Trump could become the third United States President to be impeached by the House of Representatives, former Trump campaign advisor Sam Nunberg predicted during a Saturday morning appearance on "Up with David Gura" on MSNBC.
IN 1868, President Andrew Johnson was impeached and 130 years later President Bill Clinton was impeached. Both were acquitted after trial in the U.S. Senate. President Richard Nixon faced impeachment, but chose to become the only president to resign from office to avoid proceedings.
Gura asked Nunberg about Trump's claim that he had personally written responses to special counsel Robert Mueller.
"I also think that he probably -- just an opinion of mine -- would not have actually answered the questions if Republicans had kept the House," Nunberg suggested.
Nunberg revealed in March that he was subpoenaed by the special counsel.
"I remember, as Rudy Giuliani said, this is about articles of impeachment," he continued. "The fight about him getting impeached."
"I happen to believe he will be impeached, he's not going to be removed from office, but I think that at the end of the day he's going to be impeached," he predicted.
