Internet marvels at ‘how quickly’ Trump suggested creating a ‘propaganda’ network as he pitches state-run TV

Published

on

In a pair of tweets posted Monday afternoon, President Donald Trump appeared to suggest the U.S. government should sponsor its own news network — a notion some are calling “propaganda.”

After complaining about CNN’s “unfair” coverage and claiming that it has “very little competition” outside of the United States, the president declared that “something has to be done.”

That “something,” he wrote, includes “the possibility of the United States starting our own Worldwide Network to show the World [sic] the way we really are, GREAT!”

Some noted that Voice of America, the government’s overseas news network, already exists.

“It’d be like America’s voice, broadcast around the world,” The Daily Beast‘s Lachlan Markay tweeted. “Hey, we could even call it…Voice of America.”

Others still noted that it sounds a lot like state-sponsored propaganda news.

“He wants ‘us’ to start ‘our own’ worldwide network to compete with CNN,” actress Marsha Warfield tweeted. “Scared yet?”

Published

The Rev. Al Sharpton called out President Donald Trump for groveling for Joe Scarborough's approval for years, only to turn around and baselessly accuse him of murder.

The president claimed he'd always been haunted by the possibility that the "Morning Joe" had been involved in the 2001 death of former congressional staffer Lori Klausutis, but Sharpton dismissed that as nonsense.

....about whether or not Joe could have done such a horrible thing? Maybe or maybe not, but I find Joe to be a total Nut Job, and I knew him well, far better than most. So many unanswered & obvious questions, but I won’t bring them up now! Law enforcement eventually will?

This billionaire Republican governor has been sued dozens of times for millions in unpaid bills

Raymond Dye had a buildup of blood behind his left eye that prevented him from seeing. David Polk had an abnormal heartbeat, and his wife had high cholesterol. Roger Wriston’s wife had a bad back.

All the men had worked for a collection of coal companies owned by Gov. Jim Justice and his family, which had pledged to provide health insurance after the miners retired. Last year, though, the retirees learned that those firms had stopped paying their premiums. And as a result, their coverage had been terminated. Polk skipped doctor appointments.

‘Recipe for disaster’: NC doctor slams Trump’s hopes for a packed GOP convention as ‘an incredibly bad idea’

A North Carolina strongly cautioned his state's governor from caving in to President Donald Trump's wishes for a packed Republican National Convention.

The president has threatened to move the RNC this summer from Charlotte if Gov. Roy Cooper did not ease coronavirus restrictions to allow for a full-scale event, but a local physician told WCNC-TV that Trump's plan was unreasonable.

"What do we know about infections?" said Dr. Jeffrey Galvin, of the Vitality Medical Wellness group. "Infection requires two things, exposure plus time."

Trump wants to pack 20,000 Republicans, journalists and others into Spectrum Center in August, but Galvin said infected people shed small amounts of the virus every time they breathe.
