The American Academy of Pediatrics has doubled down on its recommendations against spanking and other forms of corporal punishment for children — and CNN faced immediate backlash for reporting the guidelines.
The pediatricians’ group recommends that adults caring for children use positive reinforcement, as well as setting limits and expectations, rather than spanking, hitting, threatening and humiliating.
The policy statement updates — and strengthens — guidance published in 1998, and social media users complained that physical punishment was necessary to discipline children.
Look how great that worked out! We have undisciplined disrespectful young people who knows no boundaries! You can also see the kids who were disciplined, are respectful, and have safe boundaries! Now where's my switch!!!

Spanking never hurt me none! Probably helped me in the long run. That's the problem in today's society, the kids tell the parents what their going to do, I say spank them if they need it, it's not going to hurt the kids, good grief!

Another example of why liberals should never be put in power. They'll legally define a spanking as a beating and spend so much time arresting ordinary parents they won't have time to prosecute real abusers.

And this is why we have an undisciplined generation of youth who don’t respect authority.

I was spanked and my therapist says I'm well adjusted.

Problem with our society today, lack of spanking.

I know a lot of doctors that have no common sense. Pediatricians overall were the most lacking.

Pussifcation of America is in full affect..

We can see nowadays what extreme softness with children have turned them into. Let this academy know that this whole selfishness and arrogance we can see on children today will make our planet burn when they are in charge of it one day

spanking is positive reinforcement bcuz you are giving a punishment rather than taking away a privilege (negative reinforcement.) I flick my little kids' ears when they misbehave and are rebellious. they get it. it works for them. praise given for good behavior.

I think we really need a discussion about that! Spare the rod spoil the child.

Spank today avoid a school shooting tomorrow. That’s my contribution to the pro life extremist. Care about them in the womb but when they come out I can’t pop’em. The. They get profiles or I gat called an unfit Mom. Well of I am damned either way I’m spanking.

Naaa, lack of it got us where we are today. A cop can punch, choke hold, & taser them but I can’t pop my kid… each kid is diff & if mine knows I’ll take a flip flop to that butt. Y’all can kiss my…complain about ppl having babies & pro life, but won’t let me set them straight

Yes let’s let kids continue to run wild. That’s working out really well. When kids were disciplined schools had discipline. Now we have school shootings, out of control bullying, and teachers being assaulted by students. 🙄any other dopey ideas?
