Trump says troops on border are 'tough people' and don't need to spend Thanksgiving with their families

President Donald Trump on Tuesday dismissed the idea that U.S. troops were suffering by spending time away from their families on Thanksgiving.

Before the president headed to his Thanksgiving festivities at Mar-a-Lago, he was asked about the thousands of troops who he has ordered to spend the holiday on the U.S. border.

"Don't worry," Trump assured members of the press.

Trump added that the soldiers are "tough people" who are used to making sacrifices.

"They are proud to be on the border," he said. "They are proud to be defending our nation."
