On Friday, retired Congressman Ryan Costello (R-PA) compared President Donald Trump's latest Twitter rant to the behavior of an 8th grader during an interview with CNN's Kate Bolduan.

Costello bashed the president for owning the government shutdown as a way to get billions in funding for a border wall.

Trump tweeted that if he does not get his wall that we would shut down the entire U.S.-Mexico border.

"We will be forced to close the Southern Border entirely if the Obstructionist Democrats do not give us the money to finish the Wall & also change the ridiculous immigration laws that our Country is saddled with. Hard to believe there was a Congress & President who would approve!" Trump tweeted.

Costello warned that Trump will not be taken seriously with these kinds of tweets.

"This struck me as an angry 8th grader's tweet. I don't really know how to make sense of it because I don't think he can do this even if he wanted to," Costello said. "It probably violates NAFTA. I don't think he'll have much if any support in Congress."

"Nor do I think he would be able to implement it. When you start throwing out threats like this, people stop taking you seriously in terms how you go about negotiating," he said.
