MSNBC's "Hardball" on Christmas Eve offered an award for "the best suck up" to President Donald Trump.
The nominees where Governor-elect Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for a campaign ad featuring his children, the 18 Republicans who nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize and Fox News personality Sean Hannity.
The DeSantis ad featured him teaching his children to build a fake wall and learning to read from Trump.
"The DeSantis moment by itself is -- you think of the therapy bills the child is going to have later in life, so just the sheer damage he did in that one moment," argued panelist Dana Milbank. "You have to look at Hannity, it has a lifetime achievement element to this, this award. It wasn't just that, it's every night."
"Sean Hannity threw his profession under the bus as soon as he got up on stage," suggest Sam Stein, politics editor of The Daily Beast.
"I think with DeSantis, that's child abuse, that really is," said conservative columnist Jen Rubin. "That is a step too far."
"I say it's DeSantis, I say it's the corruption of a minor," suggest Jason Johnson, politics editor at "The Root."
"I say it's having that child build this wall, because I don't just see it as being part of that campaign, those videos stay on youtube forever," he explained. "That child will one day be in junior high, that child will one day be in high school."
Matthews opened an envelope listing the winner, and announced that DeSantis was victorious.

"You have to be taught to hate,'" Matthews added.
