CNN's senior White House correspondent Jeff Zeleny said Friday that it was revealing that President Donald Trump hasn't attacked National Enquirer publisher David Pecker after news broke that the president's longtime friend and ally was cooperating with prosecutors from the Southern District of New York, which is investigating Trump's payoffs to his various mistresses.

"Michael Cohen knows a lot, but he's not the only one who knows a lot," said Zeleny, adding that the New York investigation was a much greater threat to the president than the Mueller probe. "I think who the president is not talking about this week is also interesting: David Pecker."

As reported elsewhere, AMI admitted to prosecutors that it worked hand in glove with the Trump campaign to kill or bury stories about the president's numerous affairs and other dealings, with the goal of influencing the election.

Pecker "is not that much of a household name, but a very close friend to the president," Zeleny said. "His cooperation with the government is fascinating, and why hasn't the president said anything about him so far?"
