'A wall of lies' is the only thing Trump has built: CNN's Jake Tapper

On Tuesday, CNN's Jake Taper ripped President Donald Trump's border wall idea. Tapper said that the American people could not 100 percent understand Trump's empty campaign promise because it is surrounded by a "wall of lies" and a "wall of misinformation."

In his fight to fulfill a campaign promise to his base, the president has caused a government shutdown that has gone on longer than two weeks. The shutdown has impacted and will continue to hurt millions of Americans.

"It's almost as if the public can't hear what he has to say because around the issue of border security there has been built a wall -- a wall of misinformation and a wall of lies," Tapper said.

Trump will host a primetime address to the nation on Tuesday night, where he is expected to rally up support and funding for his border wall. It is also anticipated that Trump might declare the border a "national emergency."

"President trump choosing a historic setting to address the nation tonight making the case for the first time from the oval office that his fight for border security and a wall is worth the pain of a week's long government shutdown," Tapper said.
