Trump belittles Ann Coulter after her 'wimp' smackdown: 'Maybe I didn’t return her phone call or something'

Political commentators have mocked President Donald Trump for taking direction from the likes of Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh and pundits on Fox News when it came to the government shutdown. But it appears Trump isn't very happy with at least one of those right-wing pals.

"Good news for George Herbert Walker Bush: As of today, he is no longer the biggest wimp ever to serve as President of the United States," Coulter tweeted Friday after his capitulation to Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

In a Wall Street Journal interview, Trump maintained he's not giving up on his crusade for the wall and in many ways, he's stuck in an awkward position.

If he loses the wall fight, he'll look weak. If he gives up on the wall, he could lose his following -- and Coulter's continued support.

“I hear she’s become very hostile,” Trump told the Journal. “Maybe I didn’t return her phone call or something.”
