Trump brags that he goaded Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz into running for president because it will 'help him'

President Donald Trump reportedly bragged to donors at a Trump Hotel fundraiser Monday night that he wants Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz to run for president to help his chances at re-election.

The New York Times' Maggie Haberman tweeted that, according to an attendee at the fundraiser, Trump "was trying to get Howard Schultz into the race with his tweet earlier today because he thinks he'll help him."

Earlier in the day, Trump tweeted that Schultz "doesn't have the guts" to run against him in 2020.

The Starbucks CEO announced he's considering a presidential run on 60 Minutes Sunday night — and has since been accused of attempting to "spoil" the election for any Democratic challengers.
