Katie Miller, the podcaster married to White House adviser Stephen Miller, deleted a post celebrating Monday’s federal search of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home, but not before social media captured it and suggested it could come back to haunt her.

“Promise made, promise kept,” Miller wrote on X in reply to a New York Post article about the search, echoing the Trump administration’s longtime slogan for touting its accomplishments, The Daily Beast reported.

National security writer Marcy Wheeler, who posts as emptywheel, screenshotted the post before it vanished and wrote that Miller “is not going to do very well in a deposition.”

Miller’s replacement post, in reply to a Daily Mail article, struck a different tone: “The men and women at HSI are incredibly talented and professional.”

Wheeler wasn’t impressed with that one either. “You lie a lot, @KatieMiller,” she wrote. “But the HSI agents in MN have REPEATEDLY engaged in criminal perjury before judges. I get that that counts as ‘talented’ for you.”

Others zeroed in on the deletion itself.

“DOJ says the search of Ilhan Omar’s home is ‘part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation,’” wrote Democratic strategist Matt Royer. “Katie Miller, Stephen Miller’s wife, called it ‘Promise made, promise kept.’ Then she deleted it. Why would she do that?”

Journalist Laura Bassett, a former editor-in-chief of Jezebel, added: “So incriminating that she deleted it."

Homeland Security Investigations agents searched Omar’s home early Monday. The Justice Department said they executed “a judicially authorized search warrant” as part of “an ongoing federal criminal investigation,” but has not said what the probe concerns. Fox News, citing sources, reported it centers on immigration paperwork Omar’s late father filled out when she was a child. Critics have argued that HSI’s involvement points to an effort to strip her citizenship.

Omar has called the long-running fraud allegations against her “disgusting lies,” and told Fox News last month that investigators had not contacted her. White House border czar Tom Homan announced in September that DHS was investigating her, and House Oversight Chair James Comer has claimed the Justice Department is probing “the entire Omar family.”

The search came four days after President Donald Trump urged Minnesotans in a Truth Social post to “fight back” against Somali immigrants, writing that “the Federal Government will come to your rescue.” The White House did not say what he meant. The post followed federal terrorism charges against a Somali American teenager and a string of gang-linked shootings in the Twin Cities suburbs, and drew condemnation from Gov. Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison and the state’s chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Miller did not respond to The Daily Beast’s request for comment.
