President Donald Trump contradicted his own White House spokesman's explanation for why press briefings are held so sporadically on Tuesday, in a Twitter rant about the media.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders recently set a record for the longest span without briefings. Sanders' assistant Hogan Gidley said Sarah Sanders wasn't going to the podium because the president himself was talking to the media instead.

"The reason Sarah Sanders does not go to the 'podium' much anymore is that the press covers her so rudely & inaccurately, in particular certain members of the press," Trump tweeted. "I told her not to bother, the word gets out anyway! Most will never cover us fairly & hence, the term, Fake News!"
