Former Fox News personality withdraws bid to be Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations
Former Fox News personality Heather Nauert is withdrawing her bid to be UN ambassador, CNN reported Saturday.
Nauert’s formal nomination had never actually been sent to the U.S. Senate by President Donald Trump.
Nauert is currently spokesperson for the State Department, which says Trump will soon make an announcement for a different pick.
“I am grateful to President Trump and Secretary Pompeo for the trust they placed in me for considering me for the position of US Ambassador to the United Nations,” Nauert said in a statement. “However, the past two months have been grueling for my family and therefore it is in the best interest of my family that I withdraw my name from consideration.”
One factor in Nauert withdrawal: She and her husband had employed a nanny who was in the U.S. legally but wasn't authorized to work. Would have come out in confirmation hearing and was seen as politically untenable in Trump admin for obvious reasons. W/@JenniferJJacobs# p #6_9 # ad skipped = true #
