White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Friday insisted that President Donald Trump has never encouraged violence, despite having a long history of doing just that.
“I certainly don’t think that the president, at any point, has done anything but condemn violence,” Sanders said while talking with reporters on the White House lawn. “In fact, every single time something like this happens, the president is typically one of the first people to condemn the violence.”
After arrest of Coast Guard lieutenant, who allegedly amassed weapons and compiled list of Democratic lawmakers and journalists, Sarah Sanders says Pres. Trump hasn't "at any point" done anything "but condemn violence, against journalists or anyone else." https://t.co/vD1SnbtLMf pic.twitter.com/JO6LCpexIm

What Sanders said, however, is flatly false.
In 2015, Trump said that a protester at one of his rallies “maybe should have been roughed up” after he was punched by a Trump supporter.
In 2016, Trump encouraged supporters to “knock the crap out of” protesters at one of his rallies while promising to pay for their legal fees.
“Any guy that can do a body slam, he’s my kind of… he’s my guy,” Trump said.
Given Trump’s consistent track record of promoting violence, her claim was met with disgust and derision across the internet.

He literally called journalists the enemy of the people two days ago, and said networks which air content he doesn't like should face retribution four days ago.

@PressSec is a pathological liar, a 45-sycophant, and a Worker of Iniquity. It’s painful to watch and listen to her deceptive deceiving propaganda, she has no sunken place.

How about the times he encouraged his supporters at rallies to attack protestors saying he would pay their legal fees? Saying people should be carried out on a stretcher, is that his idea of "condemning"?? 🤔
