CNN's Toobin stunned that Roger Stone won't shut up: 'He's playing with fire -- he could get locked up'

CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin said on Tuesday that he could not believe that indicted Trump ally Roger Stone keeps making inflammatory posts on Instagram, thus increasing his chances of being incarcerated until his trial later this year.

During a CNN panel discussion of Stone's now-deleted Instagram post in which he insinuated he was being framed for obstructing justice and witness tampering, Toobin warned that Stone was dangerously close to violating his gag order that restricts him from publicly discussing his case.

"I think he's playing with fire," Toobin said. "I think he could get locked up. I mean, this is insane what he's doing."

Judge Amy Berman Jackson harshly criticized Stone and tightened his gag order after he publicly attacked her on Instagram and posted a photo of her next to a crosshair. While Stone's latest post isn't as inflammatory, Toobin argued, he's certainly taking a major risk that could jeopardize his freedom.

"Judge Jackson is not screwing around," he said. "I mean, I don't think this will get him locked up, but it might."
