Fox News issues weak condemnation of Jeanine Pirro’s shockingly unhinged Muslim-bashing rant

Fox News’ “Judge” Jeanine Pirro on Saturday delivered an intensely Islamophobic attack against sitting U.S. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar on her show, “Justice with Judge Jeanine.” In her diatribe Pirro suggested that because the freshman lawmaker from Minnesota wears a hijab she somehow is un-American and does not believe in the Constitution.

If you haven’t yet seen it, here’s the video:

Outrage was immediate and palpable, But Fox News executives first declined to comment, then waited more than 24 hours before finally issuing a statement saying they “strongly condemn” her comments.

“We strongly condemn Jeanine Pirro’s comments about Rep. Ilhan Omar,” network executives said in their short statement. “They do not reflect those of the network and we have addressed the matter with her directly.”

Notice they did not say they were firing her, or even suspending her.

Just, “we have addressed the matter with her directly.”

The statement doesn’t even say, “she is remorseful,” “she apologizes,” or “she would like to apologize to all people of the Muslim faith.”

Nothing.

Just, “we have addressed the matter with her directly.”

That literally could have been, “Hey Jeanine, those comments you made on Omar? Way to go!”

That would also have “addressed the matter with her directly.”

It’s clear Pirro, is is a longtime friend of President Trump, has no remorse, no guilt, is not sorry.

We know this because she also wrote a statement, which was released with the Fox News executives’ statement:

Pirro literally writes, “I invite Rep. Omar to come on my show,” which is almost exactly the same non-apology Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, under intense criticism for comments appearing to support statutory rape, also made.

Clearly the position of the Fox News network brass is our people can say and do anything, and we will not apologize or take any action against them.

Trump continues a conspiracy that never ended as he covers up the cover up of a crime

It’s hard to know where to begin discussing the president’s commutation of Roger Stone’s sentence. So let’s start with what it means. It’s not a pardon. Donald Trump’s goombah is still a felon convicted of witness tampering and lying to the US Congress. He plans to appeal the guilty verdict. “Commutation” merely means he won’t go to jail.

This article was originally published at The Editorial Board

The move was widely expected in Washington. Only the timing was in doubt. The president had hoped to wait until after the election, according to Bloomberg News, but Stone appears to have forced his hand. He feared prison would expose him to the new coronavirus, which can be fatal to people his age (67). Stone told a journalist Thursday that he believed the president would commute his sentence, because he stayed quiet while under pressure to cooperate. That statement, given the day before his 40-month sentence was to begin, was widely interpreted to mean: do it now or I start singing.

CNN host goes off on Trump as COVID-19 surges: ‘The president is peddling debunked illogical crap’

During a segment on CNN this Monday, anchor Brianna Keilar had some harsh words for President Trump and his response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, starting out by saying that the U.S. is "losing its battle" against the virus.

"...the people who are supposed to be in charge of the national response to the pandemic instead are escalating their attacks on doctors," she said, pointing out that up to 60,000 Americans are testing positive for the virus, each day.

"They're doing this even though they won't mandate the use of masks which are proven to save lives," she said. "They're doing this because the President is continuing to make claims that the only reason the U.S. has a surge in cases is because of an increase in testing."

WATCH: White House uses Fauci’s words to praise Trump – hours after trashing him

Published

Literally hours after providing reporters with a list of what an anonymous White House official called mistakes Dr. Anthony Fauci has made over the year on coronavirus, the White House turned the tables to use the veteran immunologist's words to praise President Donald Trump.

On Sunday in a statement to CNN the White House outlined "the number of times Dr. Fauci has been wrong on things."

Calling it a "new campaign of deception," CNN reported Monday morning that "the White House is trying to destroy the reputation of one of America's most respected public servants, Dr. Anthony Fauci, for telling the truth about how bad things are getting."
