Internet destroys Trump spokesperson for calling Puerto Rico 'that country': 'Jesus -- get these people out'
Hogan Gidley (Fox News/screen grab)

Although he later backtracked White House spokesman Hogan Gidley took a heaping of abuse on social media after he complained about federal funds going to U.S. territory Puerto Rico while calling it "that country."

Appearing on MSNBC with host Hallie Jackson, Gidley attempted to defend President Donald Trump's reluctance to help Puerto Rico out, claiming, "“They have not come to $91 billion with all we’ve done in that country. They have had systematic mismanagement of the goods and services we sent to them. You’ve seen food rotting in the ports and their governor has done a horrible job. He is trying to find someone to take the blame off of him for not having a good grid and not having a good system in that country.”

Despite Jackson pulling him short for the comment, Twitter piled on.
