President Donald Trump on Friday admitted that he wants to drop undocumented immigrants into blue-state cities as a plan to punish his political foes.

"Due to the fact that Democrats are unwilling to change our very dangerous immigration laws, we are indeed, as reported, giving strong considerations to placing Illegal Immigrants in Sanctuary Cities only," the president wrote on Twitter. "The Radical Left always seems to have an Open Borders, Open Arms policy -- so this should make them very happy!"

The Washington Post reported on Thursday that the Trump White House believed it could exact revenge on its foes by releasing undocumented immigrants into sanctuary cities, although it was stopped from doing so by both officials at the Department of Homeland Security and at Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which feared congressional backlash in the form of funding cuts.

Trump over the last week has been firing multiple officials at DHS because they have reportedly been pushing back on orders that they believe violate the law.
