President Donald Trump is taking credit for improvements in veteran care that were started under former President Barack Obama.

According to an Associated Press fact check that was published on Memorial Day, "President Donald Trump and his Veterans Affairs secretary are claiming full credit for health care improvements that were underway before they took office."

The AP determined that Trump falsely claimed that he passed a private-sector health care plan for veterans for the first time "in 45 years." In fact, the program, called Veterans Choice, was first signed into law by Obama.

Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie has also taken credit for improved wait times and advances in mental health services that were made under the former president, the AP said.
