At a press conference Wednesday, Special Counsel Robert Mueller emphasized that his report did not clear President Donald Trump of wrongdoing, particularly in regards to obstruction of justice.

On CNN, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper noted Mueller's emphatic conclusion that Russia had interfered in the election. He pointed out that the current intelligence community leadership also believes there was foreign interference in the U.S. election, but that Donald Trump appears to remain in denial.

"What's dangerous and disturbing is the president's refusal to acknowledge that," Clapper said.

He also praised Mueller for his effective rebuke to the President's attack on his investigation as a "witch hunt." Like Mueller, Clapper has often drawn the President's ire.

"It was understated but compelling rebutal of the attacks on him," Clapper said.
