The 1939 Hatch Act prohibits public officials from engaging in partisan activity.
But a top-level Trump era administrator at the Department of Housing and Urban Development does not care -- and she's posting about her flagrant disregard for the law on social media, reports the Huffington Post.
“Just retweeted this amazing tweet from both of my Twitter accounts — professional and personal,” Lynne Patton wrote on Facebook last week. Her message lauded her boss, HUD Secretary Ben Carson, while criticizing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). “It may be a Hatch Act violation. It may not be.”
"Either way,” she said, “I honestly don’t care anymore.”
Patton had originally retweeted a message that said, "I find it funny how liberals will laugh at & mock Ben Carson for a simple miscommunication yet praise Ocasio-Cortez as if she's a genius," a user called Educating Liberals said.
"One of them is a brain surgeon who separated conjoined twins at the heads & the other just figured out what a garbage disposal is. Case closed."
Patton confirmed the sentiment, adding a "feeling disgusted" emoji.
