President Donald Trump has seen his personal businesses floundering since taking office. His properties, such as Trump Tower Chicago and his National Doral Miami golf course have seen a decline in revenue since he took office.

"Becoming president has been very bad for Trump’s business, thanks to his name becoming synonymous with racism, corruption, sexual misconduct, possible tax fraud, and mental instability," a report for Vanity Fair said.

However, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump who run the Trump Organization said that their father's divisive behavior is not the reason for the decline. Instead, they suggest that gun violence in Chicago is to blame for the decrease in revenue.

"In a statement about the Chicago property, the Trump Organization claimed the drop in revenue is due to—wait for it—'the perceived threat of gun violence [which] has harmed visitation to the destination,'" the report said.

Adding, "Despite the fact that the figures it submitted to investors and Cook County, Illinois, show no other Chicago competitors have experienced a similar decline."
