Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) dropped out of the 2020 presidential race Wednesday, and Trump tried to pretend she was one he was really afraid of.

"A sad day for the Democrats, Kirsten Gillibrand has dropped out of the Presidential Primary. I’m glad they never found out that she was the one I was really afraid of!" Trump tweeted.

The reality is that a new poll released Wednesday showed Trump losing to the top five Democrats in the race, including Mayor Pete Buttigieg. Despite low name recognition, Gillibrand was still slated to beat Trump nationally, according to RealClearPolitics tracking polls.
