'Pathetic': House GOP shredded for 'waste of time' ploy to undermine trust in elections

House Republicans passed the SAVE Act on Wednesday evening along near-party lines — a controversial piece of legislation, workshopped by right-wing influencers, that would update the National Voter Registration Act to require proof of citizenship to vote.

The bill, which has no chance of passing in the Senate, was seized on by pro-Trump commentators to try to attack the Democrats who had voted against it — but other observers on social media were having none of it, and nor were the Democrats themselves, who blasted the bill as a cynical stunt to undermine confidence in U.S. elections.

Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico and Wisconsin — nearly all of which are considered swing states — have all sent "fake electors" and others who tried to overturn the 2020 presidential election to represent their state parties at the convention, slated to begin Monday in Milwaukee. That's according to CNN, which said it obtained state party-published lists and other documents.

Rep. James Comer's latest antic was roundly criticized on social media Wednesday after the House Oversight Committee said it subpoenaed three key White House staffers who, the panel alleges, reportedly run "interference" and create a "protective bubble" for a declining President Joe Biden — and even do his job for him.

Michael Cohen asks Supreme Court to resurrect 'ripe' case against Trump over confinement

Donald Trump's former "fixer" is asking the Supreme Court to resurrect his First Amendment lawsuit against his old boss after a federal appeals court smacked down his attempt to seek compensation over retributive jailing.

Michael Cohen told news outlets Wednesday in a statement that, "No president should ever be permitted to weaponize the Department of Justice through a willing and complicit attorney general, to have a citizen unconstitutionally remanded to prison, in my case, solitary confinement, because that person refuses to waive that First Amendment constitutional right."

One 'obvious difference' in new Republican platform reveals Trump's blatant egoism: expert

Former President Donald Trump hasn't just become the uncontested leader of the Republican Party, wrote Philip Bump for The Washington Post — he has changed the way they even write their policy platform.

The release of the new platform, which is loaded with all-caps Trumpisms and caused outrage among some rank-and-file members, comes after Trump forced much of the longstanding leadership of the Republican National Committee out and replaced them with MAGA loyalists, including his own daughter-in-law.
