'Important moment': Joe Biden reportedly ready to speak about Trump's criminal trial
Whether or not Donald Trump is found guilty in his latest trial, President Joe Biden intends to speak out about it.
After staying silent for the past several months, Biden will give a statement about Trump's Manhattan trial, where he has been charged with 34 felonies, Politico reported.
Trump is accused of falsifying business records to cover up a hush-money scheme for an alleged affair.
"If the jury convicts Trump, Biden’s team will then argue that the result shows Trump is ill-suited for office and that it demonstrates the extremes to which the former president would go to win again," the report said.

However, if he is found innocent or there is a hung jury, Biden will call for calm and urge Americans to have faith in the legal system. In fact, regardless of the outcome, Biden intends to say that the American legal system worked and people should respect that process, according to the report.
That said, his campaign's social media team is preparing to launch a torrent of ads calling out "convicted felon Donald Trump." They're also preparing to go on the attack if there is a hung jury or an acquittal.
One of four people given authorization to speak about the statements told Politico: “This is an important moment, and the president first and foremost needs to stress that the American system works, even and especially in an election year. In a measured way, it becomes part of his argument against Trump, too: Do Americans really want this?”
Trump's trial was finished earlier this week, and the final statements are expected to begin on Tuesday morning.
“I don’t think [Biden] needs to run to the briefing room to talk about this,” said ex-Barack Obama communications chief Jennifer Palmieri. “But, at some point, he should address the conviction, saying that a jury of Donald Trump’s peers have convicted him of a crime, and it would do extraordinary damage to the standing of the United States and to the credibility of our democratic system for someone Americans found guilty of a crime to then be elected president.”
Thus far, Biden has remained silent, and he intends to keep quiet on three of the other cases Trump faces.
