‘They pump him up’: Trump pushes new claim Biden ‘on cocaine’ to give speeches

The discovery of a small container of cocaine at the White House sparked a flurry of right-wing conspiracy theories — many being promulgated by Donald Trump himself.

The former president first graduated from claiming that it might have belonged to Hunter Biden — who has struggled with substance abuse previously but was at Camp David when the bag was most likely dropped — to special counsel Jack Smith, even saying he "looks like a crackhead." Then Trump started claiming President Joe Biden himself was "probably" on drugs — and took it one step further in an interview with far-right talk radio host Wayne Allyn Root on Wednesday, suggesting, with absolutely no evidence, that Biden is given cocaine by his staffers to keep him alert enough to give speeches.

Democrats want to take on Rick Scott in Florida next year. They still need to find a candidate

MIAMI — Florida Democrats are girding to take on Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Scott next year. The one thing missing so far: an established candidate. Democratic Party leaders in both Florida and Washington, D.C., have started reaching out to potential candidates in an effort to gauge their interest in a Senate run. While no major challenger has stepped up to the plate, at least a few prominent Democrats have expressed interest in the race. Former U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, who lost reelection in a key South Florida House to Republican Rep. Carlos Gimenez in 2020, acknowledged during the F...

GOP flip-flops on mail-in voting that Trump warned would allow 'massive cheating'

The Florida Republican Party spent years trying to get their voters to take part in early voting and vote by mail, until Donald Trump came along.

"I think that mail-in voting is a terrible thing," Trump said publicly. In the days that followed, he claimed without evidence that voting by mail would hurt Republican candidates and that it would probably lead to fraud. “There is no way you can go through a mail-in vote without massive cheating,” he said in August 2020.

DeSantis hits all-time low in new national poll that shows Biden ahead of Trump

Florida governor and GOP presidential candidate Ron DeSantis just hit his all-time low in a new national Morning Consult poll that puts President Joe Biden ahead of Donald Trump, but only by one point.

The weekly poll of over 3000 people shows DeSantis, amid the damage from his campaign – and them him personally – promoting an anti-LGBTQ video deemed "homophobic: by even gay Republicans. After massive outrage the DeSantis campaign quietly pulled the video off social media, but the damage was done.

National Association of Realtors pushing significant funds into Missoula mayoral race

The National Association of Realtors, which bills itself as “America’s largest trade association,” is pumping at least $125,000 into the Missoula mayoral race, a significant infusion for a local election in Montana.

The expenditure, to support Realtor and Councilor Mike Nugent’s bid for mayor, was listed in the most recent campaign finance report filed by a committee titled “Missoula Mayor.”

The committee is separate from Nugent’s own mayoral campaign. However, it is supporting the Missoula native and first-term councilor in the five-way race, according to deputy treasurer Jim Bachand.

‘Stop sitting on the sidelines’: Youngkin challenges pro-Trump Republicans' election strategy

Gov. Glenn Youngkin launched a new initiative Tuesday to push Virginia Republicans to take advantage of laws Democrats passed making it easier to vote early, despite lingering resistance to mail voting from the party’s pro-Trump wing.

The “Secure Your Vote” program pushed by Youngkin’s Spirit of Virginia PAC and the Republican Party of Virginia encourages voters to sign up for the state’s permanent absentee voting list, which allows ballots to be automatically mailed to participants every election cycle. That list and absentee voting itself have come under sharp criticism from some GOP lawmakers who argue ballots going out via mail are more susceptible to fraud.

“Republicans gotta stop sitting on the sidelines and allowing the Democrats to do a better job of voting early,” Youngkin said in an appearance Tuesday morning on Fox News, where he said his party puts itself at a disadvantage by ceding Virginia’s 45-day early voting window to its opponents.
