"I would not feel comfortable with a convicted felon in the White House," Buck said.

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum launches 2024 campaign ads in Iowa, New Hampshire

Republican presidential candidate Doug Burgum released two ads Monday that will air in Iowa and New Hampshire, his campaign announced.

The $3 million ad campaign will air on TV stations the first two states to hold nominating contests — the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary — in 2024.

Burgum, the governor of North Dakota, launched his run for the presidency earlier in June. As he seeks to stake his position in a field of a dozen Republican contenders, Burgum is starting with less name recognition than some of his competitors, such as former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. In his first Iowa visit, many of those attending the governor’s event were not familiar with him.

Gretchen Whitmer rolls out ‘Fight Like Hell’ PAC to play in 2024 federal races

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer launched her “Fight Like Hell” federal political action committee (PAC) on Monday, repackaging a phrase she used last year in her advocacy for protecting abortion rights.

Whitmer, who co-chairs the 2024 President Joe Biden/Vice President Kamala Harris reelection campaign, said she will raise money for Democratic candidates who are “unapologetic in their fight for working people and their basic freedoms” heading into the 2024 election.

“I’ve been fighting like hell for working people and basic freedoms in Michigan my entire life, but this is a moment where our fight must stretch beyond Michigan and reach the entire country,” said Whitmer in a video announcement. “And that’s why we’re starting Fight Like Hell PAC to bring Michigan’s fight for basic freedoms to our supporters’ backyards across the entire country. We will fight like hell for Democrats to hold the White House in 2024. We will fight like hell for Democrats to hold Michigan’s seat in the U.S. Senate in 2024 and we will fight like hell for every candidate who shares our values and we’ll fight like hell for every single vote.”

Trump slams Biden and DeSantis on Spanish-language radio station ahead of court appearance

MIAMI — Former President Donald Trump took jabs at President Joe Biden and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis during a live interview at a Spanish-language conservative radio station on Monday evening — a day before his first court appearance in Miami where he has been charged with illegally retaining classified documents and obstructing a federal investigation. Media personality Carines Moncada led the Trump-friendly interview at Miami-based Radio Libre 790 AM, launched in 2022 with the promise of appealing to a growing segment of Republican Latinos. Trump phoned in hours after arriving at the Trump N...

Watch: Chris Christie busts Trump on 'outrageous' docs case in first few minutes of CNN town hall

At his town hall on CNN Monday evening, former Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) laid into former President Donald Trump, both accusing him of being incapable of putting the needs of the country before himself, and dismantling at length his conduct in the classified document scandal that led to his federal indictment under the Espionage Act.

"I am convinced, if [Trump] goes back to the White House, that the next four years will be all about him settling scores," said Christie to moderator Anderson Cooper. He added, "The bottom line is that if you're lucky enough to become the President of the United States, every day you should wake up thinking about what you do for the people of this country, not what scores you need to settle for yourself."

Trump expands huge lead over Ron DeSantis in Republican poll after indictment in Mar-a-Lago documents case

Former President Donald Trump has expanded his huge lead in polls over Ron DeSantis and the rest of the 2024 Republican primary field since he was indicted in the Mar-a-Lago classified documents scandal. Trump scored a dominant 61% support of GOP voters compared to just 23% for DeSantis in a CBS News poll conducted after he was charged with mishandling documents and obstructing justice. Former Vice President Mike Pence and Sen. Tim Scott trailed with 4% each and others in the crowded race were mired in the low single digits. The poll shows Trump has consolidated his strong support among Republ...

'It would almost be malpractice': Trump lawyer Alina Habba's defense gutted by legal analyst

According to former prosecutor Paul Butler, one of Donald Trump's many lawyers is barking up the wrong tree if she thinks provisions found within the Presidential Records Act will come into play as her client faces a 37-count indictment in federal court.

Appearing with MSNBC host Chris Jansing, Georgetown Law Professor Paul Butler dismissed out of hand a defense offered by Trump attorney Alina Habba during an appearance on Fox News on Sunday, explaining she seems to not be aware of what is contained within special counsel Jack Smith's indictment.

Habba told Fox host Shannon Bream, "What I can tell you is he has every right to have classified documents that he declassifies under the Presidential Records Act. They're making it sound like a five-alarm fire and it's not."

She continued, "Frankly, he was the only one that could take classified documents that he declassified under the Presidential Records Act -- people forget that."

"Is that something, Paul, you could expect to hear at trial?" host Jansing asked.

"I hope not because it would almost be malpractice," Butler shot back. "The Presidential Records Act is not anything that Donald Trump is charged with -- he's charged with very serious federal felonies."

"For all those scandalous charges in the indictment, the problem for Donald Trump is that Jack Smith has receipts," he elaborated. "He's got dozens of those documents pertaining to national security, he's got photos, he's got audio and video tape, he's got text messages."

"Chris, what's probably most worrisome for Donald Trump is that the special counsel also has a lot of evidence that we don't yet know about," he added. "You can be sure he's saving some of the most incriminating evidence against Donald Trump for the trial."

Trump-backed Arizona 'audit' was even more of a debacle than previously known: newly unearthed texts

The Trump-backed "audit" of the 2020 election in Arizona ended disastrously for the former president as it not only confirmed President Joe Biden won the state, but it actually gave him a bigger final margin than the official state tally.

And now the Arizona Republic is reporting that newly unearthed text messages sent by the CEO of the company that conducted the audit show that it was an even bigger debacle than had been previously reported.

Violence-inciting GOPers are complicating security surrounding Trump Florida arraignment

According to a report from CNN, government officials seeking to secure the areas surrounding a Florida courthouse where Donald Trump is expected to be arraigned are having their efforts complicated by GOP lawmakers and conservatives who have been making rumblings about taking up arms in protest.

CNN host Rahel Soloman began by sharing a clip of failed Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake telling a crowd, "If you want to get to President Trump, you’re going to have to go through me, and you’re going to have to go through 75 million Americans just like me. And I’m going to tell you, most of us are card-carrying members of the NRA [National Rifle Association]."

"That’s not a threat – that’s a public service." She later added, "We will not let you lay a finger on President Trump. Frankly, now is the time to cling to our guns and our religion."

'Stupid, foolish and insane' Lindsey Graham slammed for manic defenses of Trump

Reacting to Sen. Lindsey Graham having a meltdown on ABC on Sunday when pressed on Donald Trump's 37-count federal indictment, the panel on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" scorched the South Carolina Republican's litany of lies after he snapped at "The Week" host George Stephanopoulos.

After watching a clip of Graham going off after exclaiming "Let me finish!" and insulting the ABC host, "Morning Joe" co-host Joe Scarborough described the Graham diatribe as "so pathetic" before adding, "Everything he said there is wrong."

According to Scarborough, "That guy is unrecognizable from the guy that used to run around the Senate and around the world with John McCain. John McCain flipped in his grave about 30 times there. Senator McCain told me before he passed how sad and how disappointed he was with Lindsey Graham -- couldn't believe he had stars in his eyes and was willing to do what he was willing to do to play golf with Donald Trump."

"Lindsey Graham, you lie to them all the time," he continued before later adding, "He's a champion of national security and he's fine with Donald Trump taking national security secrets to his beach house and leaving them in the shower and leaving them in the bathroom, leaving them in open spaces regarding nuclear secrets regarding America's vulnerabilities, regarding our allies."

'I mean, this is -- again, it's just -- you talk about the degrading of the Republican Party and Lindsey Graham personally there? It's sad and pathetic. I keep going back to what's worth that?" he added.

Co-host Mika Brzezinski chipped in, "Look at what's in this indictment. That was an insane reaction; it's just stupid and foolish and insane."

Trump's use of lawyers as 'attack dogs' is coming back to bite him

Donald Trump attorney Evan Corcoran's notes and grand jury testimony will be central to the Department of Justice's 37-count federal indictment of the former president and, combined with former Trump "fixer" Michael Cohen's contributions to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's 34-count indictment for tax fraud, it appears his misuse of his legal representation is coming back to haunt him.

According to a report from the New York Times, the DOJ's case against the former president who will be arraigned in Florida on Tuesday will hinge heavily on Corcoran's notes where he memorialized instructions from the former president who encouraged him to break the law.

As the Times reports, Trump has a history of using his lawyers as both enforcers and attack dogs and, as he faces both a critical federal and civil cases -- with more likely to come -- his legal strategies are coming back to bite him.
