Reacting to the Supreme Court's presidential ruling that will hand Donald Trump unfettered power to do as pleases under the cover of presidential immunity should he be re-elected, a former FBI official warned the agency could become an agent of terror under the revenge-minded ex-president.

Appearing on MSNBC on Saturday, former assistant director for counterintelligence at the FBI, Frank Figliuzzi was candid about the agency's history of trampling on Americans' civil rights and claimed it would pale in comparison to what Trump would order it to do.

"I think we have to look at the intelligence community and federal law enforcement and here is why," the ex-FBI agent began. "[Supreme Court Justice] Samuel Alito has responded to the dissenters in this position and saying, 'Oh come on, you guys are bringing up extreme hypotheticals,' is what he called them as if we will have a good man in place who will always do the right thing despite having the presumption of immunity."

"Well, guess what" he continued. "It is not extreme because all we have to do is look back in history to the early and mid-1970s when the American people began to find out that their FBI and their DOJ and their CIA were spying unlawfully without court authorization on American people. And who were those American people? Anybody J. Edgar Hoover and the administration felt was a threat."

Continuing in that vein he added, "This is what happens when the executive branch literally has no rules they need to follow and, I am telling you, we will see it again because Trump has said he will seek revenge on those he deems a threat."

With Donald Trump having been thrown a lifeline by the conservative-majority Supreme Court with its controversial presidential immunity ruling, former U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade stated there is still a path forward for special counsel Jack Smith to make a dent in the former president's drive to return to the Oval Office.

Appearing on MSNBC's "The Weekend," Vance predicted there is little chance that Trump will be tried for election interference before election day but the evidence against him could see the light of day.

As she explained to the MSNBC hosts, "It is not just the defendant, it is the public that has a right to a speedy trial. I think the more progress he [Smith] could make before president-elect Donald Trump goes into office, the more he can do at the other end."

"Certainly the things that have been deemed official acts, such as Donald Trump's interaction with the Justice Department are going to go by the wayside," she predicted before offering, "Jack Smith has the option of amending the indictment."

"You do not have to go back to a grand jury to remove things from an indictment where they already found probable cause," she elaborated. "So he can pare this down to just those acts that he believes are official acts and go for it. Certainly it will be litigated but the public will have an opportunity to see what the unofficial acts were: organizing false slates of electors, pressuring state officials to flip the outcome of the election and exploiting the chaos at the Capitol on January 6 to try to press legislators to delay the certification."

"All of that, I think, is entitled to a public hearing. Of course, also the documents case out of Florida. Judge Aileen Cannon has made no effort to act with urgency. — no reason that case can't proceed all the way through January to see how much progress they make, " she added.

Appearing on MSNBC on Saturday morning, a former Republican Party nominee for a U.S. House seat representing New Hampshire warned Democrats they are doing serious damage to their party by attacking Joe Biden over his debate performance.

Appearing on "The Weekend," Jennifer Horn — now an independent working with the anti-Trump Lincoln Project — suggested some Democrats are going overboard with their criticism of the president.

After stating Biden needs to get in front of voters more, she told the MSNBC hosts, "I would suggest that the response of that very small number of Democrats that have really come out after the president, and some of the media folks that have really come down on him since the election have done more damage and more harm than the president himself did during that debate."

"For me, and millions of Americans like me, this election is about the future of our country. It is about democracy, it is about getting away from the imperialistic, criminal presidency of Donald Trump and making sure that our children have a future that we can feel good about and be proud of," she explained.

She added, "It naive to think that at this point in the process you can switch candidates and still defeat Donald Trump. It is naive to think that the Democratic party will come out of a contested convention more united and stronger than they are today. "

"I think there is a lot more damage being done by folks other than Joe Biden when you look at how folks are reacting to this," she concluded.
