'Why do you need my parents' information!' Elon Musk ripped over Social Security breach

Reacting to members of Elon Musk's DOGE team digging through troves of U.S. citizens' private information at the Social Security Administration, MSNBC host and former RNC chair Michael Steele had a meltdown on Sunday morning.

While noting that the Department of Government Efficiency staffers are also looking at information on child support payments, and Republicans are seeking to gut Medicare, the co-host of MSNBC's "The Weekend," finally had enough.

"Just real quick on that point about the savings," he told co-host Alicia Mendez, "having, you know, managed the affairs of my mother before she passed away on Medicaid and my dad now on on Medicare. There are no savings there! I mean, you know, why are there no savings, folks? Because the government won't allow you to save! You can't accumulate income, there's a cap in how much you can have in your bank account, and that's roughly $6,000 if you're married. If you're not, it's half that."

"So you know, if you're only allowed a certain amount of money to accumulate in your bank account or in order to be on Medicaid, for example, where do you save?" he elaborated.

"And now you're putting these incompetent buffoons in charge of managing the system which they have no clue about, number one," he continued with his voice rising. "And number two, [they] are sitting there making judgments over getting your private personal information and what are you going to do with that, Elon!?"

"Exactly why do you need my parents' information? Why do you need their –– and then, of course, this little ditty," he added. "You've got DOGE now going out trying to access sensitive child support information. Why do you need to know who's paying child support? Why?"

"Why are Republicans allowing him to have that kind of access?" he then exclaimed.

'Don't let this fool punk you': Marco Rubio urged to stand up to Musk after Cabinet fight

Reacting to a New York Times report that billionaire and Donald Trump confidante Elon Musk and Secretary of State Marco Rubio engaged in a shouting match at the White House, former RNC chair Michael Steele urged the former Florida senator to stand his ground.

On Friday the Times reported the two argued after Musk complained that Rubio hadn't fired enough State Department staffers, with the Times' Maggie Haberman reporting Trump seemed to enjoy the squabble.

On Sunday morning, the entire panel on MSNBC's "The Weekend" laughed at the behind-the-scenes White House drama.

Co-host Steele took it a step further after colleague Alicia Menedez humorously compared the fight to a scene out of the teen comedy "Mean Girls."

With Symone Sanders Townsend proclaiming " What is really going on here, Marco Rubio? Stand on business, sir. I will back you up on that," co-host Steele jumped in.

"I back you up too, Marco. You're my man, do your thing, bro," Steele interjected. "Just, you know, don't let this fool punk you. You know, you stand your ground. You're the secretary of state and he is no one in this government –– period. He has a made-up title in a 180-day position –– period. And so the fact that, you know, he tries to call you out in the Cabinet meeting, you were right to push back."

"And other cabinet members should do the same," he continued. "Y'all can't do this in silence. You have to make sure that you are the one running your department. Donald Trump even came out and said as much, but, you know, this truth social tweet that, you know, 'we're all good here.'"

"No, you're not all good, no, you're not all good," he repeated. "And the fact that you love the fight, it's your whole game, because when they're fighting you feel more powerful, Trump. That is your aphrodisiac among other things that are stupid."

Republicans will 'burn the country into the ground' for Elon and Trump: GOP adviser

During an appearance on MSNBC early Sunday morning, the former campaign manager for Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) lashed out at where the Republican party has gone under Donald Trump with billionaire Elon Musk apparently calling the shots.

She then turned her ire on House Majority Leader Mike Johnson (R-LA) when asked about his budget proposal that may be voted on this week with an eye on keeping the government open until September.

Speaking with the hosts of MSNBC's "The Weekend," Lucy Caldwell stated, "It's an important first test culturally around how these Republicans are going to do business. I continue to think that Democrats are engaged in an asymmetrical warfare with these Republicans, where they are still trying to make the case that in a paradigm that would require us to believe that Republicans are reasonable and rational and coming to the table, and that we there are good Republicans who are out there who are just going to come policy-make."

"Newsflash, Sen., Mitch McConnell is basically one of our leading Republican members of the resistance –– so that's where we are," she added. "So I think that it's really going to become incumbent on Democrats this week as we go to the Hill and start hearing arguments for and against, that they really get out there loudly and aggressively."

She continued, "I think that people like [Hawaii Democratic Senator] Brian Schatz are doing a fantastic job of doing this, but we need to channel more of those voices. We need to channel more of these voices to show exactly what's going on with people like Mike Johnson, with Elon Musk, that this is just chaos."

"There is no unifying plan, and they will burn the country into the ground, you know, out of service to dear leader, Elon and Donald, so buckle up," she accused.
