Conservative lays waste to Trump for being 'inane danger to the country': 'Tis the season to be a jerk'

Conservative Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin unleashed on President Donald Trump in her Thursday column.

Rubin has been relentless this year in her attack of not only Trump but "pathetic" Paul Ryan and the GOP for becoming the party of "white male fear." Her Republican attacks have become so brutal, the right wing even begged The Post to stop referring to her as "a conservative."

“Trump’s presidency is spinning out of control," Rubin wrote. "The arguments for defending him becoming more inane and the danger to the country mounting. The real question for Republicans in 2019 is whether they start to push him out, or subject themselves, their party and the country to a full-term of the most inept, chaotic, mean-spirited and thick-headed president in our history.”

She then proceeded to takedown every internal failure the White House seemed to stumble into over the past month. From Gen. James Mattis' resignation to the Mick Mulvaney appointment and acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker's corruption -- Rubin called it the "worst few weeks of his presidency." Indeed, it might be the worst few weeks in "any presidency," other than Richard Nixon's final weeks, she speculated.

"For Republicans on the Hill and around the country, a sense of resignation if not dread is developing," she continued. Will Trump tank the economy entirely? Precipitate an international crisis? And most important, will they actually be stuck with him as their nominee in 2020?"

Even as it all spins out of control, the Kool-Aid is flowing freely over at Fox News, Rubin wrote. And right-wing journalists continue to cuddle up to Trump-cultists. She noted it's unclear if Republicans will ever grow the gumption to save the GOP, or "subject themselves, their party and the country to a full-term of the most inept, chaotic, mean-spirited and thick-headed president in our history."
