Trump targets New York law clerk with new conspiracy theory about fraud trial

Donald Trump put a target on a New York law clerk with a conspiracy theory suggesting Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer is dating her and is rigging the fraud case against the former president.

Trump claimed Tuesday, without citing any evidence, that Alison Greenfield, the principal law clerk to New York Supreme Court justice Arthur Engoron, was the girlfriend of Schumer and accused her of somehow directing the $250 million fraud case filed against him by New York Attorney General Letitia James.

"Schumer’s girlfriend, Alison R. Greenfield, is running this case against me," Trump posted on Truth Social. "How disgraceful! This case should be dismissed immediately!!"

Trump posted a link to Greenfield's Instagram account, which is set to private but purportedly contained a photo of herself posing in public with Schumer, according to a post by Judicial Protest, a low-follower account on X.

That account has just 143 followers, including Trump senior adviser Jason Miller, and has posted frequently about Greenfield, who is mulling a run for Manhattan Civil Court judge.

Trump ranted against Engoron Monday, calling him a "rogue" judge who should be disbarred and face criminal charges The judge has faced a wave of violent and anti-Semitic threats since ruling last week that the attorney general had proved the former president and his adult sons had committed fraud.

Others involved in court cases and prosecutions against Trump, including grand jurors and witnesses, have also been hit by threats after the former president identified them on social media.
