New emails reveal how OAN reporter has advised Arizona GOP on their ballot 'audit'

The watchdog groups Center for Public Integrity and American Oversight recently released a trove of emails relating to the controversial Arizona ballot "audit" being conducted by Republican lawmakers.

Among the emails were correspondence between Arizona Senate President Karen Fann, who has led the effort to conduct the audit, and Christina Bobb, a reporter for the far-right One America News Network who has fundraised $150,000 for the effort and advised former President Donald Trump that these efforts could still prove he was the real winner of the 2020 election.

In one email, Bobb kept Fann apprised of witnesses for Arizona, as well as the testimony for similar efforts in Georgia by John Eastman, a disgraced former Chapman University law professor who helped Trump in a failed lawsuit to overturn election results.

Eastman, who has pushed white supremacist reinterpretations of the 14th Amendment and baselessly suggested Vice President Kamala Harris is not a U.S. citizen, was recently forced to step down from his faculty position after speaking at the "Save America" rally, which fed Trump supporters into the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6.

The Arizona audit, which has chased bizarre conspiracy theories including hunting for bamboo fibers on ballots to prove they were shipped in from Asia, is now being dismissed as a "clown show" even by prominent conservative figures.

Fann, however, has staunchly defended the effort — citing in its defense the fact that they are live-streaming the process through OAN, even as other news organizations have reported some barriers to access.
