Newt Gingrich desperately begs Donald Trump to let him be the VP nominee

Newt Gingrich and Donald Trump have a lot in common. They've both had three wives, they both have a history of attacking the Clintons and they both seem to long for a political career that seems hopeless.

Perhaps, that's why there is so much speculation surrounding the former House Speaker for the Trump VP shortlist. Gingrich has all but launched his own draft Newt efforts and proved he has been a Trump loyalist from the beginning.

“If a potential president says I need you, it would be very hard for a patriotic citizen to say no,” Gingrich told the New York Times. “People can criticize a nominee, but ultimately there are very few examples of people turning down the vice presidency.”

Trump, however, is more likely to look for a running mate that can get him votes and, other than Fox News watchers, most normal Americas have forgotten who Gingrich is. To the rest of the country, he's nothing more than another old, white dude on TV.

Instead, Trump is looking into governors who can help him win. The New York Times names New Jersey governor Chris Christie, who has become an expert at looking uncomfortable standing behind Trump. Word has it, whose chief accomplishment she could bring to the ticket is being a woman, who isn't quite as dumb as Sarah Palin.
