The latest data showed that the economy created 64,000 net new jobs in November following a decline of 105,000 in October. The Journal's editors noted in a new editorial that the figure "sounds worse than it is because the net jobs decline was all in government jobs."

'The dam is breaking': MTG says Trump's 'iron grip' on the GOP is weakening

U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) says “the dam is breaking” on President Donald Trump’s popularity and many Republican Party members are now in survival mode with their constituents over the unpopular president.

Thirteen Republicans voted with Democrats to overturn one of President Trump's executive orders, which enabled him to fire federal workers,” Greene told CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins. “We also saw Indiana Republicans vote against redistricting ... But I would like to say that that is a sign where you're seeing Republicans entering the campaign phase for 2026, which is a large signal that lame duck season has begun and that Republicans will go in all in for themselves in order to save their own reelection.”

Conservative New York Times columnist Bret Stephens is a frequent critic of President Donald Trump, though he took his criticism a step further after the president insulted the late actor-director Rob Reiner.

In a Tuesday column, Stephens castigated the commander-in-chief and lamented having to write about Trump, who he called a "petty, hollow, squalid, overstuffed man." He argued that dedicating a column to him was necessary as Trump was, in his words, "the most loathsome human being ever to occupy the White House."

'Ship has sailed': MAGA Republicans abandon Trump's scheme as tempers flare

In the aftermath of President Donald Trump's failed push to get Indiana Republicans to pass an extreme mid-decade gerrymander deleting all Democratic congressional seats in the state, GOP officials there who supported the effort are admitting defeat — and facing recriminations from within their own party.

Trump threw everything he could at getting Indiana to pass the new map, sending Vice President JD Vance to the state multiple times, and Gov. Mike Braun and the congressional GOP delegation endorsed the plan. But after a bitterly divisive session that involved GOP holdouts being targeted with violent threats, Braun has acknowledged it's not going to happen anytime soon.
