MAGA senator brutally booed and taunted by state fair crowd: 'Shame on you!'
Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) faced a "chorus of boos" and was shouted down by a rowdy state fair crowd in his own state.
On Saturday, Marshall attended a debate against his Democratic opponent, Adam Hamilton, during the Kansas State Fair. However, the crowd kept giving him the business.
As the debate started, the crowd began chanting "No more Trump!" alongside "scattered cries of 'U-S-A,'" reported local journalist Derek Zimmerman-Guyer in a post on X. When Marshall was introduced, the crowd erupted into a loud wave of boos.
Then, during the debate, the crowd kept breaking into chants and boos while Marshall spoke. Marshall entered the debate days after Politico reported that he refiled his official Kansas home address — relisting a one-bedroom cabin near St. John — after being caught listing a house he'd already sold. He keeps a $1.2 million home in Sarasota, Florida, and has charged taxpayers for flights with Florida stops.
At one point, Marshall started to talk about why he made Kansas his home, but the crowd cut him off with a "chorus of boos," reported the Democratic accountability group American Bridge 21st Century.
Marshall tried to claim, "The average cost of gasoline is less under President Trump than it was under Joe Biden," but the crowd reacted with an uproarious showering of boos. "You can look it up," a red-faced Marshall said.
When Hamilton said, "If you love $6 a gallon diesel fuel, you can thank Roger Marshall," the crowd changed its tune and broke into cheers.
"You can tell Roger Marshall wants to run off the stage," posted Kansas Dems on X. Kansas Dems also reported that the crowd began chanting "You don't live here!" and then Hamilton's campaign reported that the crowd chanted, "Shame on you!" when Marshall began defending his medical debt collection practices.
Another wave of boos came when Marshall tried to disagree with Trump's promise of $5,000 payments if the GOP wins Congress in the midterms.
Kelsie Taggart, the vice president of American Bridge 21st Century, reported that "so far, Marshall has been interrupted three times with boos. We're less than 10 minutes into the debate."
Taggart also reported that the crowd shut Marshall down with chants of "Answer the question! Answer the question!" but it's unclear what the question was.
