Bill O'Reilly says Republicans need a better answer on the economy, or November could go badly for them.
The former Fox News star went after the GOP in a combative Monday segment on NewsNation with host Leland Vittert flagged by The Daily Beast, saying the party can't seem to connect the dots on the issue voters care about most.
"The Republicans are so blanking dumb, they can't put it together," O'Reilly said, warning the failure could cost them the midterms.
He didn't spare the other side. O'Reilly argued Democrats have no real strategy for lowering prices either and are offering socialism as the fix. He said both parties are relying on gimmicks — but President Donald Trump, in particular, is caught up in "gimmick mania."
His advice to struggling Americans was blunt: don't count on Washington to bail you out, whoever holds power. In his view, people short on skills and stuck with bills have to hustle and compete, because that's how capitalism works.
A summer Harris poll for The Guardian found nearly everyone surveyed, 95 percent, believes the country is in an affordability crisis, while a majority thinks the economy is heading downhill. Separate polling from The 19th and YouGov found Democrats ahead of Republicans in voter trust on every cost-of-living question asked.
Trump ran in 2024 on leaving Americans better off, but his war with Iran has sent gas prices past $5 a gallon in parts of the country, turning off many voters.
Democrats need to flip four Senate seats to take that chamber, and three House seats to win the lower one.
