U.S. Capitol Police are requesting that the National Guard stay on-site for another 60-days, the Associated Press reports.

The request comes after intelligence reports suggest extremist group are plotting another attack on the Capitol.

As the AP points out, the potential plot is linked to the far-right conspiracy theory "QAnon," which claims that former President Donald Trump will return to power on March 4, the original presidential inauguration day.

Over 5,000 Guard members are currently in Washington, D.C. and were all slated to go home on March 12.
