The Supreme Court has a new playbook — and Democrats need to adapt before it's too late

Imagine that the NFL made a rule change that allowed every team to have an extra three men on the field during the game — but half of the NFL teams, protesting the new rule as “wrong” and “too much of a deviation from fairness and norms” refused to add the three players to their own lineups.

Who’d be winning almost every game? Who’d be going to the Superbowl?

There is no magical way out of this — there will be blood

It would be helpful if we stopped pretending this terrible chapter in American history won’t close without bloodshed …

It would be helpful if Americans, and our feeble Democratic politicians in particular, stopped implying by their comatose actions that Democracy is some damn American right and has no end date.

What happens when the people who once led the free world become the enemy of Democracy?

Elon Musk just called for the United States to withdraw from NATO, leaving Europe to Putin’s tender mercies.

Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Hegseth ordered our federal operations to detect and stop Vladimir Putin‘s infiltration of American cyber security — from our nuclear facilities and dams to our news and social media spaces — to cease. As Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer noted yesterday afternoon:

Don't watch Putin's puppet relentlessly lie tonight — here's the real state of our union

Let’s get this out of the way: I wouldn’t watch Traitor Trump deliver his Russian propaganda to a joint session of Congress Tuesday night with your eyes.

If you are interested in the truth about the state of our union, hang with me for a couple of minutes, while I deliver it here.

We've reached the moment of maximum peril for our nation and our freedoms

Get ready.

The resistance to billionaires running our government is growing. Bernie Sanders is touring the Red State Midwest and drawing massive crowds. Federal workers are pissed. Republican politicians are in hiding, refusing to do town halls even when their constituents demand them or try to set them up.

Any Democrat who's not fighting right now needs to get the hell out of our way

It was late-fall of 2015, and the end of an era. Our latest troubles as the world’s most enduring democracy were finally behind us, and endless possibilities lit up the road ahead.

I’d argue it was the most unappreciated and significant moment in modern American politics.

Musk is a walking posterboy for overturning a major Supreme Court decision

These are the times that try men’s souls… Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered.

Only a bully kicks a man and then makes him say 'thank you'

I just watched Trump and Vance try to pressure Ukraine’s President into surrendering to Putin and I feel sick with shame.

Trump wants Zelensky to agree to a ceasefire with no security guarantees and to “trust” Putin to honor his word.Zelensky knows Putin can’t be trusted, because Putin proved it with his 2014 invasion of Crimea and his 2022 invasion of Ukraine, and at all points in between when he murdered critics and disappeared rivals. When Zelensky tried to explain this basic history to Trump/Vance, they accused him of “being disrespectful” and “trying to relitigate” the morals of the war for the cameras—cameras Trump arranged.

Democrats need to stop letting Trump voters off the hook

The Post ran a story this morning about a young woman in rural Michigan who believed Donald Trump’s promise to provide in vitro fertilization for free. On the strength of that, she voted for him.

Ryleigh Cooper, who is 24 years old and worked for the US Forest Service, expected to start a family after Trump’s victory. She is “normally more focused on motherhood than politics,” the Post said.

The 'MAGA civil war' narrative has been greatly exaggerated

This week, the Republicans in the House passed a budget resolution that would, if it later becomes law, take nearly a trillion dollars away from Medicaid over 10 years to cut taxes for the very obscenely rich.

Every House Democrat voted against it. Even so, the way is clear from House leaders to begin negotiations with the Senate Republicans. They are trying to make things “revenue-neutral” to dodge the filibuster.

Trump’s people rely on censorship because they know the truth is not on their side

There’s a clip going around, thanks to Aaron Rupar, of a CNN interview with that White House putz, Stephen Miller. In it, he defends his boss’s colonization of the federal bureaucracy.

That’s as much as you need to know in terms of the content of his remarks. You can see for yourself, but honestly, it’s hard to hear what he’s saying above how he’s saying it, which is VERY LOUD AND OUTRAGED THAT CNN WOULD DARE QUESTION DONALD TRUMP!

That Trump 'backlash' may not be real — here's why

The president does not care what you think.

I woke up to talk of backlash forming against Donald Trump and the Republican Party in response to his month-long assault on the federal government and their upcoming vote to cut taxes for the very obscenely rich at the expense of popular safety-net programs.

'Really done Ohio proud': JD Vance's first weeks as VP torn apart in home state newspaper

This article first appeared in the Ohio Capital Journal.

J.D. Vance has really done Ohio proud these last few weeks, hasn’t he? The lapdog vice-president, with evidently a lot of time on his hands, has managed to be firmly rebuked by Pope Francis, denounced by outraged NATO allies and widely ridiculed for his bizarre ‘masculinity’ rant at a weekend MAGAfest just a month into his tenure. Way to create a buzz/acute embarrassment back home!
