The Tesla White House sales event of the year

America’s president hawks merch from the White House and wonders why he gets no respect.

A quick peak at Trump’s online store not only lowers the prestige of the presidency, it raises the blood pressure. Trump uses presidential imagery to hawk everything, from tacky jewelry, candles, and clothing to food. Along with the “Lara Trump Collection” of workout clothes, the 45/47 Collection encourages buyers to “commemorate the two non-consecutive presidencies of Donal Trump... Adorn your home and your wardrobe with styles that boast your pride for America and for our president.” Even if the laughter isn’t raucous, it’s there, waiting just below the bile rising in your throat.

The 5-year cover-up: How Trump’s racist strategy got buried by the media

March 13th through April 7th next month to commemorate the anniversary of what could only be called the start of an intentional, racially-based plan for the mass death of American citizens, put together by Donald Trump and Jared Kushner for purely political purposes and virtually ignored by the American mainstream media.

If that sounds extreme, read on: all details are hotlinked to credible, mainstream sources. And, as these anniversaries over the next 3 weeks are noted in the press, hopefully some in the media will report on this now-well-documented history.

Can the Democrats save Trump from himself? And should they?

The politics of government shutdowns used to be simple and clear. The party that refused to fund the government was the party that public opinion blamed when popular things like national parks closed.

But that was before deep-state operative Elon Musk infiltrated the bureaucracy, cutting off money for things everyone likes, such as cancer research, sacking workers who do things everyone needs, like weather-forecasting and making sure planes don’t fall out of the sky.

Trump's evil has no expiration date

When Kamala Harris said “we’re not going back,” she was doing more than repeating a campaign slogan. She was tapping into a belief, widely shared among liberals and Democrats, that progress can’t be stopped.

This was a powerful and persuasive statement at the time. After the US Supreme Court struck down Roe, there seemed to be a righteous backlash against not only the court but against the former president who had stacked it enough to void the national right to an abortion.

The human cost of Arizona’s proposed Medicaid restrictions

Seeing patients at the free clinic is not just a welcome reminder that I can start piecing different information together as a medical student. It is also a reminder of what happens outside the exam room.

The patient who is coming in for follow-up for their diabetes and has signs of diabetic neuropathy may need to apply for financial assistance for their insulin. The patient with stroke symptoms who is afraid to go to the hospital because she is not sure how to cover costs of imaging may need assistance applying for Medicaid through the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System, or AHCCCS.

'Everyone who signs up to work for Donald Trump is signing up for one single project'

If you’re like me, you move in liberal-ish circles online, and as a consequence, you have probably seen lots of stories about the GOP’s threat to Medicaid, food stamps and other forms of federal assistance.

The congressional Republicans want to cut taxes for billionaires and corporations (what I call the very obscenely rich), but to do that, they have to get around the filibuster, the Senate rule requiring 60 votes. To do that, their bill must be “budget-neutral” – hence, all the talk of taking lunch money from hungry kids and giving it to the .001 percent.

Trump voters: We told you this was coming — and you have no one to blame but yourselves

In just seven, short weeks, the traitor, Donald Trump, has crashed the economy, taken us to the brink of recession, wrecked the government, lost the respect of our friends and neighbors around the world, and surrendered to the murderous Vladimir Putin.

It is EXACTLY what was expected from the proven America-attacker by anybody capable of thinking about anything but themselves heading into November’s disastrous elections.

Trump's unconstitutional jackboots have arrived

With ICE’s weekend arrest of a student who engaged in peaceful protests, Trump’s administration is flexing dangerously unconstitutional muscle and daring the nation to flinch.

Mahmoud Khalil, a graduate student at Columbia University, helped to organize several pro-Palestinian student protests last year, all of which were peaceful and non-violent. Khalil was pulled from his apartment by “special agents from a department in ICE” who informed Khalil that the State Department had revoked his student visa. When his attorney advised that Khalil was a green card holder and lawful permanent resident, ICE said his green card had been revoked too.

How corporate media has normalized Trump to the point of absurdity

I want to get a few things out of the way this morning, before really digging in and mining the anger inside me about the Democratic Party’s approach to the second Trump regime, which is aimed at finishing off America for good.

One of these things is the method in which our disintegrating mainstream media is framing this truly appalling chapter in American history. It’s as if they have completely given up and aren’t in the least bit interested in offering us the complete story of the madness playing out right in front of our tired eyes.

They've just signed Social Security's death warrant — are you ready?

Tuesday night, Donald Trump stood before the nation and, with the full backing of billionaires like Elon Musk, laid the groundwork for the biggest heist in American history — the rapid, systematic destruction of Social Security, disguised as “reform.”

We saw the formal announcement of it during Trump’s State of the Union address, and the DOGE announcement earlier in the week that 7,000 employees at Social Security are to be immediately laid off — with as many as half of all Social Security employees (an additional 30,000 people) — soon to be on the chopping block.

These 10 Democrats are targeted for hatred and fury — from their own party

It hasn’t yet been five whole days since the president’s State of the Union address, and miraculously, it’s already being forgotten. That’s well and good, as far as I’m concerned. It was a pack of lies anyway.

I figured I wouldn’t spend time writing about it, but now I find that I must, not because of anything Donald Trump did, but because of what 10 House Democrats did, which is to say, acting like goddamn fools.

Behind the hidden warning in Justice Alito's USAID dissent

In a 5-4 decision, the US Supreme Court has issued a caveat to Trump’s claim that presidents can do whatever they want. Ordering the administration to disburse $2 billion in USAID grants, the majority ruled that Trump must comply with the rulings of US District Judge Amir Ali.

Although the narrow ruling has been widely applauded as at least a temporary victory for the rule of law, as I see it, the victory is overshadowed by ominous signaling in the dissent.

Trump is still demonizing others for a reason

Only a handful of media outlets have used the term, but America is under siege, in the throes of Trump’s second coup attempt. So far, Trump’s plan to subvert the rule of law and destroy the federal government has been administrative and largely nonviolent, but it’s early days.

By firing JAGS whose sole duty is to assert Constitutional guardrails, and by politicizing the military and all federal offices that possess the power of force, Trump has laid solid tracks to execute wildly unconstitutional orders. I fear these orders are coming, in some iteration or other, and predict that they will follow a series of declarations, first of manufactured and well-hyped national “emergencies,” then of martial law. Fox News, OAN, and the rest of the more than 2000 right wing media outlets will amplify the danger perpetually to keep martial law in place, because it will financially benefit the oligarchs who own them, at least in the short term.
