Trump throws red meat to his base with rambling speech to North Carolina Republicans
Screengrab.

Former President Donald Trump emerged from his self-imposed exile at Mar-a-Lago and immediately lashed out at Democrats.

Trump said Democrats were destroying America, but gave them credit for sticking together, which he implied contrasted with the Republicans who did not go along with his election fraud conspiracy theories.

"As we gather tonight, our country is being destroyed by our very eyes," Trump said.

"We had a great election," Trump said, even though he lost. "Bad things happened, but we had a great election.

Trump complained about defunding the police, "cancel culture," "critical race theory" and "socialist Democrats."

He said the future of the country relied upon voters choosing Republicans "at every level."

"We're going to take back back our country and take it back at a level that is very, very good for our country and it's good for our citizens because we can't let bad and bad, bad things are happening to us, perhaps like never before," he said.
