MSNBC’s Mika hammers ‘rotten to the core’ Sarah Sanders for defending ‘proud predator’ Trump’s mockery of Ford
MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski shamed Sarah Huckabee Sanders for justifying President Donald Trump's public mockery of sexual assault survivor Christine Blasey Ford during a campaign rally.
The "Morning Joe" co-host wrote off Kellyanne Conway, who also defended Trump despite being a survivor herself, because she expected nothing less from the purveyor of "alternative facts," but she singled out Sanders for scorn.
"You know, I find it to be flabbergasting, Sarah Huckabee Sanders especially," Brzezinski said. "I sort of discount Kellyanne Conway because she so clearly didn't tell the truth from the beginning."
Other Republicans expressed dismay at Trump's ridicule, although none have said they'll vote against Ford's alleged assailant Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court.
"You had Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Lisa Murkowski, a lot of people said they didn't like what the president said when he visibly mocked this woman on stage," Brzezinski said.
She said Ford and her testimony were not off-limits to questioning or criticism, but that's not what Trump did on stage before a cheering crowd in Mississippi.
"If you want to pick apart the details of how this is being treated and exactly what she said and show there are some discrepancies, that's fair, that is absolutely fair," Brzezinski said. "That's why the hearings are being held, that is why finally the FBI was able to step in, because there are questions. But when you have this misogynist knowingly mocking her on stage, I don't understand Sarah Huckabee Sanders."
"I don't get it," she continued. "Some would say that you're basically a flack for a misogynist, proud predator who brags about grabbing women by the genitals. As a woman in a powerful position, I'm sorry, you're a complete disappointment -- a complete disappointment."
"There is absolutely no excuse for defending a president for mocking a victim of sexual misconduct, a victim of something, a woman who is suffering," Brzezinski added. "You can't see that's wrong? You have been made rotten to the core by this presidency."
