'Godfather offer': Top Dem flags 'real' scandal in Eric Adams case

The Trump Justice Department's suspected arrangement with New York City Mayor Eric Adams to drop the public corruption charges is completely illegal, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) told CNN's Erin Burnett on Friday — and goes completely against how federal prosecutors are meant to behave.

"Congressman, so [DOJ official Emil] Bove finally got what he wanted, he got someone to file the dismissal of the case," said Burnett. "One of the people was himself, and the other was someone who was nearing retirement, and there was a third. But ... I'm sure you read the resignation by Mr. Scotten today saying only a fool or coward would do such a thing, and as I mentioned he had clerked for Roberts, he had clerked for Kavanaugh. What do you make about how all this went down?"

Like Europe urging US to embrace the KKK: Ex-Defense Secretary stunned by Vance's remarks

A former Defense Secretary was stunned by Vice President J.D. Vance's visit abroad this week, telling CNN on Friday evening he found it "difficult" to imagine himself encouraging European nations to allow "extremism" — likening it to a European leader urging the U.S. to improve its relationship with the Ku Klux Klan.

Leon Panetta, who served in the Obama administration, joined CNN's "OutFront" with anchor Erin Burnett to discuss Vance's meeting with leaders of the fringe far-right Alternative für Deutschland, or AfD, party in Germany.

The Trump administration's purge of workers at the Indian Health Service may violate longstanding federal treaties with tribal nations, Rep. Greg Stanton (D-AZ) warned Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The layoffs, which are part of a vastly broader push by the new administration to reduce headcount throughout the federal government, apply to some 850 "probationary" employees at IHS, who have been only recently hired and are not subject to the same civil service protections as most federal employees.
