CBS News is shutting down its flagship radio network – once home to legendary newsman Edward R. Murrow – as part of its ongoing downsizing operation since the network was taken over by a billionaire ally of President Donald Trump.

Editor-in-chief and known MAGA ally Bari Weiss and president Tom Cibrowski announced Friday morning the network would be laying off dozens of employees, about 6 percent of its workforce, and shutting down CBS Radio, which provides news programming to about 700 affiliated stations around the country. The changes are effective May 22, reported the Hollywood Reporter.

President Donald Trump left at least one reporter baffled Friday after re-endorsing a candidate he previously abandoned and derided as a “RINO,” or “Republican in Name Only.”

President Donald Trump continued his multi-day rampage Friday against NATO countries for rejecting his pleas for assistance with his administration’s war against Iran, calling them “cowards” and a “paper tiger.”

Trump has tried, unsuccessfully, to have NATO countries assist in reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial shipping route through which 20% of the world’s oil trade flows, as well as more than 20% of the world’s fertilizer sea trade. In response to the U.S. attack last month, Iran vowed to attack any sea vessels aligned with the United States or its allies attempting to pass through the strait.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has been overwhelmingly rejected by the American public, according to a new series of polls — and it's to such an extent that CNN’s Harry Enten was left astounded.

“He's going over like a lead balloon, not just overall, but especially with independents,” Enten said, reviewing new polling data from Quinnipiac and Yahoo. “Past secretaries of Defense at a time of war, this early on in the war, tend to be very popular, [but] just look at this!”
