Jared Kushner drew sharp criticism Thursday after sharing a post on social media.
"Six years ago, President Trump launched the Abraham Accords and opened a new chapter of peace, partnership, and prosperity in the Middle East," Kushner began.
He then claimed Trump delivered what many said was impossible.
"What began as a bold vision has delivered billions in trade, joint innovation, new friendships and partnerships, and a powerful alternative to the failed approaches of the past."
Despite Trump's son-in-law's claims, Trump launched strikes against Iran on February 28, killing Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior military figures, igniting a regional conflict that has drawn in Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen. Including Israel's separate war in Lebanon has killed more than 4,300 people, including at least 253 children.
Critics reacted.
Former President Barack Obama's national security spokesman Tommy Vietor replied, "Yes the Middle East has been so peaceful since the signing of the Abraham Accords. No new wars. No slaughter of innocent people."
Former diplomat Alan Eyre wrote, "Magical thinking is the new norm in this US administration."
According to CNN, the Strait of Hormuz remains effectively closed with U.S.-Iran negotiations stalled.
