'Really?' Jason Chaffetz baffles with Fox News hit about 'oblivious' Trump supporters

A MAGA pundit baffled observers Tuesday after he uncorked a strange claim about supporters of President Donald Trump.

Jason Chaffetz, a former Republican congressman from Utah, was on Fox News's "The Story" with host Martha MacCallum, where he was asked about recent polling that showed Democrats having an advantage in key Senate races across Midwestern states. Chaffetz argued that the polls likely undercounted true Trump supporters.

"There is no Trump voter that is going to take a random phone call and say, 'Yes, I support Donald Trump and here's why,'" Chaffetz said. "That's just not happening, folks. So, yeah, they're going to try and poll it ... they're not going to find them. They're oblivious, and they are not going to answer those questions at all."

Chaffetz's comments were roundly mocked on social media.

Adam Cochran, a professor and policy analyst, noted that Chaffetz seemed to be describing someone other than a true Trump supporter.

"Really? Because if there is one thing we’ve seen about Trump supporters… It’s that they can never shut the f--- up about Trump. They [wear] Trump hats and shirts, man."

John Rocha, a film and television critic, posted on X that Chaffetz's argument had an inherent irony.

"But they'll fly their flags, wear MAGA hats, and wear T-shirts with his face on them. Is Chaffetz just a f------ moron or what?"

Hemant Mehta, a "Jeopardy!" champion and political commentator, sarcastically said Chaffetz was describing a well-known trait of many Trump voters.

"Yeah, if there's one thing we know about MAGA types, it's how reluctant they are to tell everyone how much they love Trump," Mehta posted on X.
