Visitors of New York City’s Trump Tower may find a peculiar item in the building's gift shop after on Thursday, the comedy duo known as The Good Liars slipped in merchandise mocking President Donald Trump’s relationship with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
“There are some new postcards in the Trump Tower gift shop,” the duo wrote in a social media post Thursday evening, alongside two photos of a rack of new postcards depicting a smiling Trump alongside Epstein, who died in 2019 awaiting trial on human trafficking charges.
The image on the post card bears the widely-circulated photo of Trump and Epstein captured at the Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, taken in 1997. The post card also bears the President’s Seal in the upper-right corner, with the comedy duo having placed several postcards on a rack.
Trump’s past relationship with Epstein has been under scrutiny in recent weeks and days after the Justice Department shut down further investigation in Epstein last week, despite allegations against the financier, particularly among Trump’s most loyal supporters, that he operated a human and child trafficking ring and maintained a client list of powerful people for blackmail purposes.
Trump’s response has only angered his supporters further, having dismissed theories around Epstein – theories he and many in his cabinet fanned the flames of – as a Democrat-manufactured “hoax.” Their relationship was drawn further into the spotlight when on Thursday, The Wall Street Journal unveiled further details of Trump’s intimate relationship with Epstein, a report that Trump is now threatening to sue the paper over.
The Good Liars are a comedy duo consisting of Jason Selvig and Davram Steifler, and frequently target conservative figures with mock interviews. Representatives for the Trump Tower gift shop, known as the Trump Store, did not respond to a request for comment.
